The American Cycling League Championship Games at the Lexus Velodrome

Detroit Public Television presents World Championship Track Cycling live from the new Lexus Velodrome in Detroit.

The program captures four featured races on public television and an additional 16 championship events, streamed live on public TV and associated sites, worldwide. Renowned track designer Dale Hughes and the Detroit Fitness Foundation opened the cycling track in 2017, inside a multi-use facility that creates fitness opportunities for youth and adults of all ages. The state-of-the-art track was constructed with a track top viewing promenade and full television production capabilities that provides dynamic and exacting angles of the fast-paced international sport.

Incredibly popular in Europe, velodrome races are held on a 166-meter steep wooden banked track, where ten laps equals roughly a mile.  World Championship Track Cycling races feature professional riders in variable-length events.
