Vital Signs

When a health care provider monitors us, there are four primary vital signs that give them what they need to know about the state of our health: blood pressure, body temperature, breathing and pulse. Together, these can indicate what kind of shape we’re in, and how our body is doing. In a similar way, here on Vital Signs that’s exactly how we look at different health issues affecting us today.

Lately it seems like you can’t turn on your TV, radio or computer without seeing, hearing or reading another debate about health care. But regardless of the politics, the fact remains — more people than ever are gaining access to health care. Will we have enough health professionals to care for them? And don’t more insured people mean a need for more health providers?

That’s the question we will explore on this edition of Vital Signs.
