DETROIT (September 1, 2020) – Here is some good news during these challenging times.

You can now watch your favorite public television station – Detroit Public TV (56.1) – anytime and anywhere you have a cellular- or internet-connected device available, within the DPTV viewing area.

Local livestreaming of all your favorite PBS and DPTV programs is coming to a computer, tablet or mobile phone near you.

All you need to do is visit DPTV.org and click on the “LIVE” button. Or, you can also watch via the handy DPTV mobile app.

Detroit Public TV’s wildly popular 24/7 Kids Channel is already available through a livestream. Now, you can watch national PBS shows like “FRONTLINE,” “NOVA,” “Endeavour,” “Antiques Roadshow,” “PBS NewsHour” and many others,, as well as favorite local shows like “One Detroit,” “American Black Journal” and “Detroit Performs,” just as easily.

The DPTV livestream is also available on Roku. Select the PBS channel on the Roku home screen. Unless you have already done so, you will need to download the PBS video channel on the device you are using. Then just follow the simple on-screen instructions.

Detroit Public TV is the only broadcast television station in Southeast Michigan offering a continuous livestream of all its programming around the clock. And, of course, it is free to all.

“This is a big step forward for us, as we strive to make our programming and public service universally available to the community,” said Rich Homberg, president and CEO of Detroit Public TV. “From pre-school kids to more mature viewers, we don’t want anyone to miss the great content we offer at all times of the day and night.

“We’re your public television station, and we want to be there whenever and wherever you want us.”
