Orphan Orca: Saving Springer
Springer, the baby orcaOn January 14, 2002, a lone baby orca whale was spotted in the waters off Seattle, Washington. Fearing that the whale might be in peril, scientists and concerned citizens leapt into action to help. The female baby orca, nicknamed Springer, became an instant celebrity. Orphan Orca: Saving Springer recounts the inspiring story of the rehabilitation and eventual release of the baby orca. The program chronicles the work of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who treated the whale's health problems and returned Springer safely to her community, or pod, of killer whales.
