American Graduate: Teacher Town Hall

There has been a lot of talk and media attention about how to address the dropout crisis in America. But equally as important is how local communities can come together to address the crisis.

Detroit Public Television hosted a Teacher Town Hall, by noted journalist Hari Sreenivasan of PBS NewsHour. The Teacher Town Hall was a Detroit Public Television live broadcast event during which solutions to improve the graduation rate were discussed.

American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen is a five-year public media initiative funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It brings together educators, parents and youth, along with non-profit, civic and corporate entities to impact dropout rates regionally and nationally. The Teacher Town Hall was broadcast on Detroit Public Television on Friday, November 18 from 8:00 to 9 p.m. The taped presentation is available now as an encore presentation in the player below.
