CommerceConnect - ALTe

On Wednesday September 1, 2010 Washington visited Auburn Hills to discuss what’s working and what’s not in Southeast Michigan’s economy.  Visiting were U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and U.S Representative Gary Peters.

The meeting was held at ALTe, a company dedicated to advancing sustainable mobility by offering electric and hybrid propulsion system alternatives. ALTe CEO, John Thomas remarked that they have found success through innovation in the alternative energy industry.

The event was well attended by many southeast Michigan business leaders who confirmed that the Commerce Department, in partnership with other local development agencies, can help area businesses grow.

Secretary Locke announced next steps for the pilot office of CommerceConnect which opened in Plymouth, Michigan last October.  The Pilot is staffed by specialists trained on the broad range of programs offered by the commerce Department.

After the formal program, attendees were allowed to question Secretary Locke and Representative Peters.
