Description:
Ready to Learn (RTL) is one of the cornerstones of the Detroit Public Television Children’s Initiative, taking our 10½ hours of daily children’s programming into the community through literacy-based workshops conducted in Head Start and Even Start programs throughout Southeast Michigan.
Each year, RTL reaches over 3,500 children, parents and caregivers of young children to support early learning, social development and school readiness.
Ready to Learn uses the pre-school reading and science programs of public TV as a springboard to related activities and books.
The program distributes over 3,500 free books throughout the community each year.
RTL is sponsored by the Bill & Sally Wildner Foundation, the Benard M. Maas Foundation, the Rodger A. Graef Foundation, Huntington National Bank, and Quicken Loans.
