Am I Right?

Am I Right?

Am I Right? is Detroit Public TV's local public affairs show that discusses the top news issues and events of the week providing analysis from both liberal and conservative points of view.

Nolan Finley, editorial page editor and columnist for The Detroit News, and Debbie Dingell, political analyst, square off as hosts of the half-hour editions that provide rapid-fire commentary from conventional and moderate perspectives on issues that have a direct effect on Michigan and its citizens.

Finley is inclined to reflect a conservative view of current issues, while Dingell tends to express a liberal point of view. Together, they generate respectful conflict and fresh ideas designed to spur you to form your own opinions and become involved in issues that affect you. This weeks program: 3/16/2012. Episode 910

During this segment, Nolan Finley and Debbie Dingell discuss:

Topic 1: The big topic in local news this week is the consent agreement that Governor Rick Snyder presented to the city of Detroit. Mayor Dave Bing and the City Council could be looking at their last chance to avoid a complete takeover

Topic 2: It’s another week, and another twist in the Republican Presidential Primary. Rick Santorum swept the South on Tuesday, and that could make him a contender for Mitt Romney’s frontrunner status.

Topic 3: President Barack Obama’s approval rating has gone down this week, as gas prices continue to go up. Obama’s opponents think that those rising prices will cost the President support among money-conscious voters.

Newsmaker Interview:
Tupac Hunter, State Senator from Detroit’s 5th District, is a vocal opponent of Governor Rick Snyder’s proposed consent agreement with the city. He joins Nolan and Debbie to discuss the proposed agreement, and why Democratic State Senators are opposed to it. Watch Interview Segment.

This is the final episode of Am I Right? In this special final segment:
Nolan and Debbie say goodbye to Am I Right?, say thank you to all of our viewers, and tell you what is coming next: a new public affairs program called MiWeek, premiering next week in the same time slot. MiWeek will be hosted by veteran Detroit news anchor Christy McDonald, and will feature Nolan Finley and Stephen Henderson, as well as frequent guest segments with Debbie Dingell.
