During the Second World War there were three critical secrets. Two of them, the use of the atomic bomb against Japan and the D-Day invasion, have become benchmarks of world history. But the third, a weapon known simply as the proximity fuze, is a story known only to a few. Credited with saving tens of thousands of lives in the Pacific and Europe, the proximity fuze, the forerunner of today's guided missiles, was a great technological innovation by a dedicated team of the country's best engineering and technical minds set against the background of war. Using rare historical footage and interviews with key members of the development team, this documentary film details the dramatic creation and use of the proximity fuze.
