The 10th Annual Sphinx Competition Concert
Winners of the 10th Annual Sphinx Competition presented by JPMorgan ChaseThe Sphinx Competition, held yearly in Ann Arbor and Detroit, and recorded for broadcast by Detroit Public Television, is nationally acclaimed for showcasing young African American and Latino classical music string players.
The Sphinx Competition Finals Concert is a one-hour program featuring performances recorded February 11, 2007, of the four top finalists from the Senior Division with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kay George Roberts. The orchestra also performs a new composition from Michael Abels, one of the country's leading African-American composers. Former Sphinx Competition Laureates and the Harlem Quartet are also featured with solo performances in the program.
