Champions on Wheels
David WagnerAmerica has 54 million disabled people with over two million in wheelchairs, usually from accidents. One moment they are walking; the next moment their lives are turned upside down.
A handful of them not only grab back their lives - but they insist on squeezing joy from every day. They are mothers, fathers, and friends: dedicated wheelchair tennis athletes who play for the love of the sport, not for financial rewards. However, there is the thrill of pushing yourself, winning, traveling, representing your country, and the joy of living life to the fullest.
Champions on Wheels follows as they compete to make TEAM USA and represent the U.S. in Athens' Paralympics. The action begins in Sydney and ends four years later in Athens.
Champions on Wheels highlights five amazing human beings and extraordinary athletes. It is a story of courage, determination, preservation, faith, belief in self, powerful athleticism, zest for life, and a great desire to be seen as a person just like anyone else. They have recaptured their lives and are savoring them. Hosted by Daryl "Chill" Mitchell.
