As we begin to countdown the months and weeks to American Black Journal’s 50th anniversary, ABJ kicks off its 49th year with an inspiring Roadshow from the Downtown Boxing Gym in the Islandview neighborhood on Detroit’s lower east side. Increasing knowledge and skills in young people through mentoring greatly enhances their chances for success in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. In this special Roadshow, recorded at Detroit’s Downtown Boxing Gym, Pulitzer Prize winning host, Stephen Henderson, interviews renowned panelists, as well as the Founder and CEO of Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program, Khali Sweeney, who will discuss the life and death consequences of getting young people off the street and into their education program as well as the importance of guiding his students and providing children and young adults physical and mental outlets that teach them patience and discipline.
