DJC Partner, WDET | Detroiter Michael Eric Dyson Discusses ‘Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America’

Last Updated by WDET on

Detroiter Michael Eric Dyson is a professor and author whose assessments of America’s original sins and our struggles to overcome them are always blunt and inspiring.

Dyson’s most recent book, Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America, is at once a lecture and a soulful call to action.

He was the featured speaker at the April 28 Midwest Literary Walk in downtown Chelsea.

Dyson speaks with Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson about what he’s trying to say with his new book.

One of the main purposes of the book is to help white people see “how we as a nation have refused to engage in a serious and sustained conversation about just what the exact and precise consequences of racial tyranny are,” Dyson says.
