January 18, 2015: National March for Justice / Heart Disease and African-American Women

Posted by American Black Journal Editor on

Thousands converged on the nation’s capitol last month to march for justice and human rights, in light of the killings of unarmed black males. Our first guest, Stephen Singleton of the Archdiocese of Detroit, participated in the march and joins us to share his experiences in D.C..

February is American Heart Month and as part of the effort to educate women about heart disease, the American Heart Association is hosting “Detroit Go Red for Women Luncheon” featuring keynote speaker Laila Ali. Janice Cosby Bridges of Ascension Health Michigan and Dr. Joan Crawford of St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, join us to discuss the luncheon and share some life-saving information for African-American women. Plus, Kim Trent presents a new segment of On This Day Detroit. Episode 4313.
