Internships
Internships are available at Detroit Public Television in the Brand Management and Production departments. Both departments offer exposure and involvement with many phases of television production and promotion. Interns are not paid, but academic credit is available.
Enrollment is open and based upon a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week for 12 to 16 weeks. To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter to:

Brand Management Internship Opportunity
This internship is designed to give hands-on promotion, marketing, and branding experience. You'll assist the Detroit Public Television Brand Management, Development, and Production departments in all aspects of program and event promotion including creating and maintaining website content, researching promotion opportunities, assisting in day to day operations of the departments, and other duties as assigned. The primary duties of the internship are as follows:
  • Create new content and maintain areas of dptv.org, including Video On Demand
  • Prepare videos for use in DPTV & national video players
  • Assist in the production of promotional on air spots including script writing and tape logging
  • Create and update content on Detroit Public Television's social networking pages
  • Create new social networking opportunities for the station & its entities
  • Pull national carriage reports for DPTV's national fundraising programs
  • Prep national station mailings to PBS programmers and pledge producers
  • Prepare and upload images and content for use in various online fundraising campaigns
  • Create mobile text messages & email copy for promotional and fundraising campaigns
  • Data entry
  • Research trends in online fundraising
  • Assist with digital licensing
  • Assist with Search Engine Optimization on all DPTV websites
  • Assist with other online, print, and on-air communications as needed
  • Assist with station events as needed
The ideal candidate will be a college student or recent graduate looking to gain experience in the Communications and Broadcasting fields. Course studies in communications, broadcasting, marketing, or website design are preferred. The candidate should also be a self-starter, good writer and proofreader, motivated, and organized. Excellent computer skills are a must.
This is a 20 hour per week unpaid internship lasting for a minimum of 3 months. Hours and days are flexible.
